In an attempt to do something other than a generic ‘let’s grab dinner and then maybe do a movie’ date night, we went to a show last night.
We didn’t go to a punk or death metal show or anything (not that there’s anything wrong with that style of music, just not for me on a Sunday night), but went to a more indie pop style show. Going to see a live show can go either really good or you can end up wondering how much liquid confidence they need to convince themselves that it’s totally fine that they’re in a key of their own. Good news, this show was FIRE.
The headliner? Ryn Weaver.
Maybe you’ve heard of her, she’s this quirkly little sprig of a girl who has a voice that I want to say sounds angelic but she’s too cool to be looped in with an adjective that lame. She’s got this funky, gritty, energetic, etherial(?) sound that just fills a room. She’s got crazy stage presence and totally worth checking out.
She’s had a few major hits on SoundCloud and got picked up in the Live In Levi’s project in spring 2015. Her top track (in our opinion) is “Octahate” but that doesn’t discount some of her other great records like “The Fool“, “New Constellations“, or my second favorite, “Promises“.
